Vol. 1 No. 1 — The first coffee date.
*This is the first issue of a previous iteration of this newsletter. It was called Heart Stuff & Coffee. I’m adding all previous issues here to be part of the archive.
Welcome to our first ever coffee date! Fall is almost heeeeere! I couldn't be more excited for it. I find fall the perfect season to slow down with a cup of tea or coffee wearing my favorite sweater while taking in the beauty of God's Creation through my window. Or spending an evening reading wrapped in a cozy blanket.
Out of all the things I want to do this fall though, spending more time in God's word makes the top of my list. The Holy Spirit has given me a desire and hunger for more of His word and more knowledge of Him. And I'm to grateful for that. Reading, studying, chewing, and meditating on His Words and promises is something I’d like to savor and enjoy this fall season (and every season).
I've started making myself a pot of tea in the mornings to get my time with God started. I love lighting a candle (currently Vanilla Pumpkin) and opening up my Bible and a devotional or study book. I also have a leather bound journal close by to jot down my reflections & prayers from my reading/study time. It 's a lovely ritual which helps me be more intentional about getting into the Word.
And speaking of reading! My TBR just keeps growing and growing and I'm looking to get through some good books this fall. I'm currently reading Help for the Hungry Soul by Kristen Wetherall and the Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. What are you reading? Is there a book on your TBR you’re super excited about?
I encourage you to slow down this fall season and spend time with your Creator, be it by taking a walk & enjoying the colorful foliage, reading the Bible slowly & thoughtfully, or even just sipping on your favorite drink meditating on who He is. Read a good book, too! 🤎📚
for your soul: 31 Days of Praise
A sweet friend of mine recently gifted me this devotional which is ALL about praising God using His own Word. I have to say I’m only about a week in (one devotional per day), and it has been a blessing! I really enjoy reading through it in the morning and rejoicing in who God is. I’m grateful I get to praise Him, but sometimes I don’t really know how to or just feel like whatever I say gets repetitive or is just not enough (I mean, how do you praise the almighty, all-knowing, sovereign creator of the entire universe?!). Well, the Bible shows us how and this devotional uses that scripture to write biblical, beautiful praises to our Lord. It gives you the scripture references, too.
